Accelerate the implementation of new solar container programs
Department of Energy (DOE) today announced a slate of new efforts, including $15. 5 million in new funding, to support solar energy deployment in underserved communities and build a diverse, skilled workforce. Deploying solar quickly in the US will be instrumental to achieving the nation’s climate goals and keeping the planet livable. A multi-solving, whole-of-government approach to planning and coordination could help the US identify high-benefit, low-harm sites for deployment. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched a $7 billion grant competition through President Biden’s Investing in America agenda to increase access to affordable, resilient, and clean solar energy for millions of low-income households. One year after the Inflation Reduction Act was passed, growth of community solar is expected to accelerate in the coming years thanks to federal help but also at state-level with states passing or improving new legislation.
