Are there enough lithium mines in the world to store energy and generate electricity

While the world does have enough lithium to power the electric vehicle revolution, it’s less a question of quantity, and more a question of accessibility. Earth has approximately 88 million tonnes of lithium, but only one-quarter is economically viable to mine as reserves. It’s also receiving increasing attention as a critical mineral in batteries for electric cars and storage for renewable energy. Lithium-ion batteries can hold their charge for much longer than traditional batteries, and they can take a new charge when exposed to electricity. Unique properties of lithium, such as low physical density and high negative standard electrode potential, allow batteries to realize record levels of energy density, which is critical for mobile devices and vehicles.
