Introduction
, has initiated the construction of Liberia’s first utility-scale solar plant. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 11, 2024, in Harrisburg, Montserrado County. These plants utilize heavy fuel oil (HFO),diesel,or other liquiduels as their primary energy source to produce electricity. The Liberian government says it is the first of several planned projects that will help to address the country’s power shortages, particularly in the dry season.
